Sandy Harris (RedBird) is Author of these pages, unless otherwise noted. She pictures herself as the “dusty Boomer matron” in the depths of Belle’s End shoppe, conversing with the discerning adult patrons considering Innurendos for their pleasure.

RedBird here, speaking for myself.
Belle and I are distinctly opposites in our thinking styles, artistry, and professional background — Artist versus Engineer — and we come to our understanding of the world through different paths and lenses, as one would expect. But we find we share a vision of the importance of her art in this time and place.
I can only speak for myself, and I do so here.
Hanging out here with so little foot traffic, I have time to muse on the pleasures of Life and on the deep questions —

like why does Belle feel called to devote her talents to making these particular fine works of art —

and what pleasure might our customers be seeking — and finding — that brings them all the way out here.
Seems to me that —
Belle’s pleasure wands have illuminated a market which would have been quite dark in my youth — products to be kept in a hidden closet. Even 20 years ago, they were something to giggle at and hide from the general public — and locked up away from the kids.
I wonder what has changed, and I wonder if my own observations are far outside the norm or if — well, it’s been there all the time and I didn’t get the memo.

And it comes to me that I’m not the only dusty ol’ Boomer fanning her face while seeking the right euphemisms for once-forbidden vocabulary.
As I explore this bright new day, I’ll share my musings in these pages and try to keep up with comments coming in.
